On 1., while I have seen (posted here) company data on their ex plant costs, and if i ignore the ex plant costs in the intersuisse report, then as outlined a week or so back, pellets ex LaTrobe valley in transit are about $AUD45+. This is at best mid rank, certainly not lowest or second quartile which is where I would want a new exporter to be. (sources wrld coal, bloomies, abbots.)
As a tactical proposition, i have not seen any sources that would suggest world coal (esp thermal) tightening. Oil, yes, plenty of peak oil stories in the press. Peak coal?
Strategically I would come back to point 1, where is your cost rank?
But, to repeat the point i made higher up, I see very little (if any) analysis in this forum (or by ESI) of world coal dynamics. Propositions about the need for dryer coal in future and established power stations -- yes, lots.
Issues of exporting into the world coal market....
