This is just in Queensland!A black lung advocacy group says there have been almost 20 new diagnoses of coal dust diseases in Queensland workers in the past two weeks and there are many more likely coming.
The diseases are solely caused by prolonged exposure to coal mine dust and are potentially fatal.
He said there were now 102 confirmed cases of mine-dust-related diseases in the state, with 250 more suspected cases awaiting assessment by experts in the United States.
"We're expecting the numbers will go up quite significantly in the next 12 months," Mr Pearce said.
