    the big issue with coal is where it is used to produce thermal energy. Coking coal used in steel is a literal drop in the ocean compared to the coal burnt every day to make steam. Problem is using coal to produce electricity - a 200 year old technology is, it is killing people and destroying what the land we have left and causing massive pollution not to mention global warming and which is why your mention of coal for the purpose of steel is irrelevant to the big issue here.
    So please wax on lyrically about the virtues of this wonderful compressed plant matter that has fossilised over eons and then dug up and added to make steel but keep it in context with discussing the death of coal in thermal energy because for a long time now we have better solutions but to use them threatens the powerful elite
