yeh thats true, the shame of it is that the pro coal lobby has used all their political tricks to not make compromise plans/deals with gov etc.

Now we find all coal generation plants are facing lower prices and could close eventually.

I suspect that about the time we get down to the last few coal generators we will realise we still need a few of them around for those very cloudy windless days when the dams are low for hydro.

Hopefully the whole sale prices will be high and coal/gas gen can really ramp up for several weeks of the year, and make some decent money - enough to keep them operational.

I see 80% acheivable from renewables and storage but more than that will be difficult.
