DRILLING CONFIRMS MULTIPLE COAL SEAMS AT BLACKWATER SOUTH & EAST MIDDLEMOUNT Bowen Energy Limited (ASX Code: BWN/ BWNO) (“Bowen”) has been actively drilling its Blackwater South (EPC 1045) tenement since April 2008and commenced drilling the East Middlemount tenements in the Bowen Basin on 30th June 2008. MD Kevin Nichol said, “Drilling has confirmed the presence of multiple coal seams at both Blackwater South and East Middlemount. We currently have four rigs operating at Blackwater South, one at East Middlemount and our sixth rig will soon commence drilling at West Rolleston, where multiple outcropping coal seams have been discovered. We are on track to deliver a JORC compliant resource at Blackwater South by the end of 2008.” Initial results confirm the presence of multiple coal seams with the potential to host substantial coal resources. Eight of nine holes drilled at Blackwater South have intersected multiple coal seams, ranging from 0.5 to 5.0 metres in thickness. Bowen intends to drill at least 60 holes at Blackwater South as part of its current program. The first of 20 holes to be drilled at East Middlemount (EM007) has also intersected multiple coal seams ranging in thickness from 0.5 to 2.5 metres. West Rolleston (EPC 1001) has the potential to contain substantial coal resources at depths to greater than 150 metres, with uniformly thick coal seams. Drilling on adjacent properties to the east and north-west of West Rolleston by Macarthur Coal, Alpha Coal and Waratah Coal has confirmed the potential for extensions of the coal seams on EPC 1001. Bowen will be drilling at least 40 holes at West Rolleston in the coming weeks. New Coal Exploration Permit Granted Bowen is also pleased to announce that it has been granted EPC 1083 (“Cooyar Project”) in the Tarong Basin and EPC 1120 (“Cape River”), where Bowen has already studying the thermal coal potential of both projects. The Cooyar Project has potential for underground coal gasification (UCG). Potential UCG resource definition will form part of the Company’s exploration objectives in up-coming drilling programs.
