For a dose of reality, just looking at the Newcastle coal future prices page on barchart. The coal price is currently above $100 all the way out to September 2022. It is not 'dropped' like iron ore and held its price pretty well. The current price for August 2021 is $152.75 USD a tonne ($206.58 AUD a tonne!).
What happened for iron ore is NOT a reflection on the coal price and therefore NOT a reflection on those miners focussed purely on coal.
