Which part of the Vice Chancellor's statement do you not understand ?
Germany is now accelerating it's shift to renewables, not moving away from them.
The UK is doing the same. It seems it's partly going the nuclear route but the common goal is clear. Reduce fossil fuel emissions as soon as they can.
In the meantime, none of that is really affecting Australia, except for a bit of opportunistic price gouging in the short term.
Australia is not building any new coal fired power stations. Never, ever again.
Australia is not even building nuclear power stations to, cough cough, reduce emissions.
Instead it is flat out building renewables and energy storage. The cheapest, cleanest power generation going around.
And as Australia becomes a renewable super power, it will lead the world. The rest of the world will lever off what we've learned, as it did with the Hornsdale Battery, and will move more quickly to clean energy .

ASX-listed ReNu Energy says it has secured a site for a green hydrogen production facility in Tasmania, as the company seeks to establish itself as an early leader in the supply of the zero emissions gas.
In a statement to the ASX, ReNu Energy says it has secured access to land at a location in Brighton, north of Hobart, adjacent to the Brighton Transport Hub. ReNu Energy is developing the project through its subsidiary, Countrywide Renewables Hydrogen (CRH).
The company says the South Tasmania Green Hydrogen project will involve the commissioning of 1 to 2MW of electrolyser capacity, able to produce between 430 and 900kg of hydrogen each day.
