Just look at the coal mining industry in Queensland. A great cash cow for government for decades. Yet we now have the spectre of restricting coal exploration/mining in so called strategic cropping areas (with a real sacred cow in the Golden Triangle near Springsure), and no exploration within 2km of towns of more than 1,000 population.
If they can be tough with coal, they can be tough with CSG (and I think you could almost forget UCG...)
