Coal seam gas is coming under scrutiny as landholders in the Hunter Valley see water table dropping and pollution of water sources from fracturing of coal seam gas deposits. This is a major food and wine producing area. Expect more noise on this problem as the affected landholders spread the word to VIC and QLD. It will become a State issue first and then a Federal one. We have plenty of gas offshore so there is no need to bastardise quality horticultural regions.
Expect to hear more on this issue. Was on news late last week. Could affect coal seam gas plays which had a big run up last year. Certainly adds a new risk factor to holding them.
