    I am based in Kiev.

    Ukraine produces a lot of steel and thus uses a lot of coking coal and I do know what quality coal looks like and it looks like what is in the photos above.

    One thing gaining ground here is coal that can be turned into dust easily (crumbly coal - not very technical I know) as this can be used instead of gas for the furnaces.

    A process called pulverised coke injection proves much cheaper than gas (which we currently import from Russia).

    If we have coking coal and coal suitable for PCI then I suspect we will all be a lot wealthier. tomorrow as some of the newer Chinese steel producers are going the PCI route for which you must have a guaranteed supply.

    If a furnace has to cool down because there is no coal to heat it the inner surface can crack which means a costly shut down for repairs and replacement.

    The PCI steel guys in China will want a chunk of the out put if we have what I suspect we have.
