Interesting little discovery, given that coal isn't their cup of tea in the Ashburton basin.

To prove a resource to Jorc status they need to log all holes geophysically (which they haven't so far, core these holes for prox analysis. The chips shown in the photo look impressive, 58m of coal cuttings (10 samples taken at 1m interval in a rows).

One still needs data for ash, moisture, calorific value & above all Sulphur. High sulphur can b a pain to deal with & may require a washery. The strip ratio could make it attractive & 50m is shallow given that the seam is bloody thick. These seams r thicker then what RIO had at Blair Athol & Clermont (30m thk known as the 'Big Seam'). I cant remember the Latrobe brown Coal thickness currently mined for power generation in Victoria.

From the map on their release, 1 half of the Kazput deposit is in their permit, i.e, E08/1650, along the highway. The other couple of holes fall in Fortescue's E47/2236.

So one could b looking at 2 pits for the low rank coal. They'd rather use it locally, then think of exporting it.

It's a good find, given that there's a historical hole that logged lignite a long time ago.

Still more coring reqd to delineate a resource size, which should happen. All the best chaps.
