The coalition had a far superior plan in action and is still available for one phone call to a country that wants to do it,is prepared to sign the UN convention and has no refugees to send to us.I cannot see how anyone can even compare to two policies.
A doubling of refugees does not mean a doubling of boat people.There are plenty of refugees in camps doing the right thing,not destrying their papers,not burning the camps down and waiting their turn,and most importantly,prepared to assimiilate once they get here.Even if this plan slows the boats it is inferior in every way to the coalition solution.
