The Federal Opposition has finalised its plans to pressure the Government to boost the single aged pension.

It will introduce a private member's bill in the Senate this week to increase the payment by $30 a week.

The Federal Government previously ridiculed the Coalition tactic saying it could not legally introduce a bill that would spend money.

But the Opposition's community services spokesman, Tony Abbott, says it can be introduced in the Senate where it is likely to pass.

"That would put enormous pressure on the Government to recognise the plight of pensioners," he said.

"Unfortunately when the Parliament debates this measure next week, the Prime Minister will be in the United Nations in New York and that's Kevin Rudd's problem.

"He's got a plan for the world but he doesn't seem to have a plan for pensioners here in Australia."

Now what do you think all the other pensioners (the majority) who are not "single aged pensioners" think of this??? Yeah it sucks hard, Labor must be laughing at the coalitions stupidity.
