Bacci - plenty or nutty rules in this area believe me.

For example - buy a brand new car (model not sold here) from overseas straight off the assembly line. Import it for ADR and conversion etc.

Sorry sir but you must replace the tyres with new ones from same manufacturer, got to replace the windscreen with new one exactly same manufacturer, and it just doesn't matter that the car is straight off assembly line lolol. In fact you cannot even get a permit to drive the car to a conversion factory - it can ONLY be transported by truck!! The f'n imbeciles. About the only positive is that one can import a car with incredible performance without the lunatic cost other than conversion cost.

Yet if one buys a pre 1980 overseas collector car, it doesn't even need anything done and can drive around with LH drive half worn tyres and a 40 year old windscreen and no crash bars in the doors etc. Absolutely lunacy in the regulations.

But trying to get anything done about such loonie stuff is just about impossible. The departments agree it is ridiculous but have no interest in changing it. I could add a list of stupidity through the compliance process but not worth the effort.
