grahammac says he will support
the greens because they
offer the only humane
process - onshore
processing.
What grahammac
ignores is the fact
that those arriving here
are gueue jumpers who could not
be bothered going through the right
process of making their way to the nearest
safe border and apply for asylum via the correct channels.
Once asylum seekers
are processed onshore by
the greens, I guarantee that
many more will end up being granted
asylum and further, this will be at the
expense of asylum seekers who are doing the
right thing by going through the correct channels.
Here's a suggestion.
On the basis that Australia is likely to be pumping billions into PNG over the unforeseen future in assisting them to manage this process and also in general aid, maybe PNG should become the no 1 choice of destination for international Asylum Seekers. Each member of the UN should pay PNG $billions and in return, PNG can build a state of the art processing facility (aka a city) capable of housing millions of refugees.
What a great industry this could become for PNG - earn billions, if not trillions and turn their country into a processing facility.
Forget the fine print - send Rudd and the Greens over to manage the process humanely.
