Whilst this sounds like "Old News" it is actually more like "Ignored News".

Carmichael coal is a least worst option during an economically, environmentally and socially sound transition to more renewable energy. Even the RenewEconomy site has often projected the use of thermal coal out to past 2050.

Carmichael coal will be less polluting than other potential coal sources and less than burning wood & dung (plus more efficient).

Blind green ideology (+ blatant unrepentant lying) doesn't help. The total fib about "coal on the beach" didn't last long. The "polluted water" story has also fallen apart. The water flowing through the wetlands was an approved & controlled flood mitigation release - not ideal obviously but again, a least worst option.

"The wetlands adjoin the Abbot Point terminal and after Cyclone Debbie tore through, the area satellite images showed black run-off from the coal stockpiles into Caley Valley.

But DEHP said that has been done under government approval."

The black stuff on the beach is magnetite. Note the island to the north off Townsville - Magnetic Island.

Whilst the mining industry has "evolved" from the confrontational rabid anti-green days of "Ban mining & let the bastards freeze in the dark", the Greens have held onto their "standards" of debate.
