The situation is quite clear, prices are going to have to increase to get more mines open, or the technology has to change.
It's not too late, this year's 100%+ price rise in Cobalt is sending the market a signal to invest. Now we will have a mad rush to find and extract Cobalt. It does take time, however, so there is likely to be a 'crunch zone' around 2020. The other issue is DRC, any supply issues here could put the whole EV revolution at risk. The good news is that DRC needs money and selling Cobalt at high prices is in their best interest so one way or the other, the cobalt will be mined and delivered.
