Seeking out cheaper substitutes for expensive inputs in any product always is an ongoing search and always has been. But seems clear that none of this is going to change soon. By the way, one of those prospects is to use more Ni and somewhat less Co--all good for CLQ. Seems the longer range EVs require even more Co, I believe. This article doesn't really have anything new, but I like the "existential threat" comment--but maybe Clean TeQ can help out there!
