The critical question for battery production is that there is a price for Co that will stimulate enough production to meet their usage requirements.

At the moment battery technology is being pushed to improve energy density and weight to enhance EV takeup. Difficult to switch technology in that environment.

The higher price will stimulate the search for richer Co ore plays as per COB as a medium term path to production.

The shorter term production may be filled from existing Cu and Ni producers. When built these plants may not have a Co winning circuit as the capital cost was not viable with the then price of Co - the Co went to waste.

Noted that Tiger Resources is considering a $22 million spend to add such a circuit. There must be others and even existing Co circuits may be tweaked for extra recovery with a moderate spend.

This is good news for COB as we want a high price and a sustainable supply to the EV market.
