Pity for clq production is years away and the payback is over 4 years (this isn't even including financing cost). By that time, an alternative will likely be found... so this will weigh on financiers willing to sink close to 1.5 billion with scrappy IRR of around 20%.

The trend is there. Elon wants to cut cobalt use and that says it enough really.
