Interesting to note that privately owned Cobham Air might be on the block at circa USD $1bn or approx. $1.4bn AUD. The AQZ Enterprise value is approx. $780m – a significant difference.
In terms of staff numbers they are about the same – Cobham say they have 800 staff and AQZ presso for 1HFY22 says 804.
The aircraft numbers I cannot get a handle on – maybe Southern Lad or one of the other industry savvy investors might be able to give some line up here. Cobham flies a‘fleet’ of Challenger jets and they also have four E190’s and six Dash 8-400’s(approx. 75% of passenger capability to the E190’s).
Profitability comparison will be difficult with the article quoting a CY20 PBT of $62.4m USD or approx. $88m AUD.
With our 32E190 fleet fully deployed I really do think we can match and beat that $88m inFY23….FY24 at the latest So, this might suggest we are presently significantly undervalued.
Final comment: I was surprised at the size of Cobham and the quality of some of their contracts and governmental work. But I do hope AQZ doesn't make a bid here. That would be too big a debt load to carry.
