A closed chamber DST is carried out for one of two reasons:
1. the operator doesnt want gas flowing to surface with a visible flare that can be spotted by scouts from rival oil companies. OR
2. the expected flow rate is so small that a closed chamber procedure is the best way to ascertain flow rates. The procedure is often used when testing tight gas reservoirs.
