I like Ken Henry's 1% property value tax per annum. The spokesman for landholder interests, BOB KATTER, initially claimed that he wanted to have a look at implementing the KEN HENRY TAX REVIEW, but then somebody alerted him to what was in it, and he dropped it like a hot potato.
The Ken Henry mining tax initially favoured the small explorers like Cockatoo, and the government would have shared in our exploration and development losses, but the big three miners did a deal with the Guillard government where all of the incentives for junior explorers were taken out of the original mining tax.
