Yes, I tend to agree now, I used to think otherwise until I got hold of this Aeropress, $80, plus paper filters, $16 for 350, I also got a Bruer Fine stainless steel filter disc, for $25.
All in all, it is very acceptable coffee equipment for around $120. I still have the flexibility to vary my choices too.
Must admit though, my first of the day is from my Breville Barista Pro, which then becomes just the coffee grinder for the Aeropress.
