Aldi where I would NEVER have shopped is increasingly looking like better quality and value at the same time.
The home brand tomato paste for example used to be the same supplier with Coles and Woolworths. Exactly the same 'made in china' product. Great quality paste. Coles changed and they still call it a 'paste' even though it is heavily diluted with water. I am expecting WW will follow suit shortly as after all: the same supplier.
But that is not the point: The point is these are bad management decisions wrt product quality because management clearly think that their customers are gullible fools. If you treat loyal customers like gullible fools before your competitors are forced to follow suit due to cost/market forces that says A LOT about the culture of a company. And Coles is holding up a big sign about themselves right now.
