I had to see a specialist eye doctor last week. Australia has an agreement with Sweden re health services. The cost was AUD $57 with my passport, details of my PP are sent to Australia for payment I guess by Medicare, without a PP it's a bit dearer $277, worth having yr PP.

I also travel as a pensioner here, love that, sadly it's the only thing about my age I do love! Get trains, buses and trams, (only one tram #7 in Stockholm) half price, I can't get this in Australia, so yes Sweden's Govt does look after it's Citizens.

Actually I was a bit shocked when I was told I could get a concession on my travel, I showed no document stating my age, vanity I guess, never thought I looked old. But it happened again on the train Saturday evening , some 20 yo I guess offered me his seat, I was so shocked, the first time anyone has offered me a seat. Best thing though, my wife was also told she could have a concession, she's 6 years younger than me, not near pension age of 65, I smiled but never uttered a word, I want to die in Australia.
