I don't look for cheap, I look for quality - sometimes this means cheap and sometimes full price.

This is what I look for

Milk and eggs - fresh as possible.

Cheese - old as possible - always check the discount section

Meat - red, again, old, always check discounts except for maybe lamb fry bits.

Fish - fresh as possible. Ditto chicken.

Oysters - that day only, never older.

Fruit - I give up, grow your own

    Veg - same.

Root veg - fine, potato - roasting, old wrinkles. Otherwise, new is ok.

    Carrot - young. Onion - ? Depends.

Bread I don't eat now, but generally, fresh on day - there is the odd bread that is good fresh and also good around 3 days later - you make yourself - the flour is very special, comes fro Privot ? Spelling in Launceston Tassie.

With fruit - orange is different - old is better than fresh - you need the skin to thin. _ it puts the sugars out of the skin into the fruit - it takes weeks for the process to complete.

That's about all I can think of at present.

    Pinto
