    I assume at night when they need a bit of power it will draw from the main grid.

    This is what anti-renewables people do not want to understand.

    Power sources in the future will be a mixture of sources. During the day when power usage is it highest use solar and wind because it is cheaper.
    At night draw from the grid when power requirements are low and there is no sun and charges are lower.
    But of course the wind could still be blowing.

    Its all about economics.
