The WA Water Corporation is by far the most lucrative cash cow among Australia's water utilities and is also the second most efficient.

The commission said the WA corporation recorded a $551 million profit after tax, more than double the $273 million made by Sydney Water and dwarfing the income of all other Australian water utilities.
