Look at all the ideology about breast-feeding and formula feeding in both developed and undeveloped countries. Look at all the crazy research which tries to link sociopathic tendencies in teenagers to the extent and duration of their breast-feeding, or not, as infants.

Do YOU know what baby formula is made of, glotch ? I do, and I bet you don't.

Do YOU know what the nutritional requirements of young mammals actually are, glotch ? Do you know what they actually DO feed orphaned bats and possums and wallabies ?

This whale calf was not all that young. It was several months old. There is a difference in the nutritional requirements of newborns and post-newborns, and their ability to thrive on food other than their mothers.

Whales are not some mystical cosmic animals with milk that is made from unicorns blood or some other unattainable mystery substance. It contains fats and proteins the same as any other mammalian milk. It can be substituted with a variety of readily available substances, and to ensure a good distribution of amino-acids, a combination of those substances. Its not rocket surgery !

In fact , it is an excellent research opportunity gone missing.
