this is one case where the science and experts knew what htey were talking about and locals and other media emo"tional" types jumped aboard either armchair experts or those that really had no idea and probably just got involed out of misguided knowledge tried to do what nature should have done ie whale died of starvation
By putting it out of its misery was the right thing to do and anyone who wants to disagree should be out there putting up as much of a media shout and bang job say every time a baby koala is run over , every time a baby kangaroo dies, and so forth
What can be done with the body of this humpback if retrieveable send it off to japan as a item for their research and a note attached saying died of natural causes this is what u use for research
Buried, turned into dog food perhaps taken to the CSIRO for research purposes or biological material im sure it could be good use to put it to.
But yeah in any case like this u will get those that just dont understand taking a stand based on misguided information sources
