You need to weight the grades against the intercept lengths of the lithium-bearing zone. Otherwise, the smaller-width higher-grade zones smear the average grade across the larger, lower-grade intercepts. Therefore, larger intercepts get a larger weighting to contributing to overall grade and vice versa for smaller grades.
If you have 10m @ 1.2% Li2O and 1m @ 6% Li2O:
- The average grade is 3.60% Li2O.
- The weighted average grade is 1.63% Li2O.
Weighted average on published intercepts > 0.5% Li2O is 1.519% Li2O.
Weighted average on published intercepts > 0.4% Li2O is 1.422% Li2O.
