Ha ha that's gold!!
Fancy that, the enemy of the left and apparent architect of social doom back in his political days is now all social conscience and saviour of the downtrodden
I might have to change my whole thought process on Australian macro economic issues.
I am sure you can find plenty of quotes like that.
Usually from people who try and remain relevant or employees of the social services industry without any of them offering anything constructive except a fear and smear campaign.
The problem is the whole argument against what the government are doing is based on the thought process that people that go broke are the banks fault.
In the real world B&DD's are a fact of life (across the board) and banking as an industry has to deal with this all the time.
If your "crack head" manages to get a loan from a bank and then defaults, well, good luck to him/her and the bank will have to learn, nothing new there.
Australia will need impetus when we come out of this and banks play a vital role in ensuring credit is available in a timely manner regardless of the beatings they cop on internet forums and populist politics!!
Bureaucratic red tape is and has been a noose around the neck of many industries including banks.
Actual political actions to reduce it should be welcome but I concede I am hitting my head against a brick wall and I understand my arguments will have little effect.
