There was a collector on the radio recently….I think it was 6PR in Perth but I wouldn't swear to it…could have been ABC….but most of my listening is 6PR, NHK in Tokyo, or a couple Philippine stations as I spend my hours in Perth traffic jams….not much room for the ABC…
Anyway, the guy being interviewed was a collector of classic cars….and he explained it perfectly….virtually every year there are less of each model….even Mustangs from the 60's etc….They get crashed, they get stolen, they die of neglect, there are less of them. But the buyers are increasing every year. I'd personally recommend going for something original….If you like the British cars..he did mention E-type Jaguars….I think MG TD's, Sunbeams…Alpine if you must but the Tiger will appreciate quicker….any early Triumph….any early Austin Healy…..
It's a hobby that is way out of my investment realm - but I wouldn't hesitate if I could afford it….although I'd go for the yank early tyre burners….Mustangs, Camaro's, Pontiac GTO's, Corvettes, etc….But if what you like gives you that weekend fun….go for it if you are happy with it. I'd personally be more inclined to look for something original as an investment (try eBay -particularly in the US - where almost any car pops up?).
