I believe the term was coined after the 1970 Grand Final between Carlton and Collingwood, after the Blues had stormed from behind to win the game.

Collingwood were leading comfortably and should have won the flag - whether they switched off again I don't know, but after that loss, and the successive Grand Final defeats they had (including another come from behind win in '79 by the Blues, the loss to the Tigers in 1980 and again to the Blues in '81), they were diagnosed with the Colliwobbles.

No wonder Lou Richards was delighted to say "the end of Colliwobbles" when the Pies won the first AFL cup in 1990.

They got them back in the Preliminaries, but it's only really true in a grand final when they are winning, and suddenly lose by a goal.

Best recent Wobbles match - the ANZAC game against the Dons last year - that was wobbles at it's finest.

The Pies will lick their wounds though - eventually they will win another flag - just hope it's not this year!
