I can understand the delay as they would have had to kill the well before continuing drilling and/or running and cementing casing. There is also a risk that when they kill the well they actually damage the reservoir itself or fracture a formation further up which could lead to all sorts of problems such as lost circulation or an underground blowout which could potentially require them to abandon the well.

This is all hypothetical but based on the way it looks like they are operating it is not out of the realm of possibility.

If I had thought that I would get a response I would have emailed them directly, however based on the fact any information regarding the well's condition is price sensitive I doubt I would get an answer.

We are definitely lucky that Halcon is doing our drilling in Birch.
