the fact is though spy, Howard and the Coalition went with an ETS when they thought it was a vote winner then changed their mind when in Opposition for the same reason. It doesn't make Gillard any less a fake over this issue though.
There are some with principles who stick to their guns whether on the right or wrong side of the majority. Gillard and Abbott aren't amongst them.
Petro Georgiou was one such guy, very talented member of Kooyong yet never a minister because he stuck to his beliefs which were at odds with John Howard.
For all his faults, Turnbull is also one. He lost the leadership by a single vote and crossed the floor for his beliefs. We need more pollies like that (across the spectrum).
