Very interesting points @MarsC, and it is absolutely accurate to state that Sky is still in a strong position with local audiences. For a 'traditional' broadcaster to have ~1M subs (and growing) in a small country like NZ means something.

The market struggles to evaluate Sky though, and seems like it will stick with the most pessimistic view unless and until something changes that alters the consensus. You can see by the types of questions Arie Dekker (Jarden) and Brian Han (Morningstar) asked Sky at the Investor Day that these guys really don't understand the business very well. Listening to their questions was like watching a teenager fumble at his girlfriends bra strap.

Once the property sale is complete, Sky will likely have NZ$150M-NZ$170M cash available. If the SP does not move (and we have absolutely no reason to believe it will) then Sky will have an EV of just NZ$110M-$NZ$130M. Ludicrous, but we had better brace ourselves for it.

Though I continue to be happy to gold patiently, it does highlight that it is absolutely nuts that one of the big players (like Comcast) or Private Equity have not stumped up a compelling offer that the board can consider. A NZ$500M offer would absolutely get Sky's attention...and the buyer would effectively be getting Sky, their tech, audience and FCF (which will still be in the tens of millions a year even while investing heavily) for NZ$350M.
