Mate, if you change the methodology then you stop having a CPI. That is why there are other indexes, like the core inflation index, the headline inflation index, the PCE and, of course, the John Williams Inflation Index or whatever you want to call it. They are all indexes trying to measure the same phenomenon according to the propose. And even you could create your own, the Danhoff inflation index by,for instance, looking only to variations in the price of illegal drugs.
