my old mum godblessher was a midwife a long way back. there are always horror stories. I could tell a few too.

and thanks for triggering me to do some reading. even though abortion is legal with limited access it seems there remain vagaries and disputes. much more than I expected. the aihw.gov sites provide long explanations as to why abortion data can really only be guessed at for starters. but looking at the side menu finds data hidden behind warnings. they're euphemistically called stillbirths and perinatal deaths. link......
I hope your niece has lots of supports. nursing is much harder than it looks.
