As I said it was purely conjecture on my behalf but surely you would agree that an evaporation pond in the middle of the simpson desert would be "seen" to have less environmental impact as one in the middle of brisbane.

If you agree with this exagerated illistration then you would agree that this may be seen to be in a more beneficial area than those areas on the eastern seaboard that may have been used for agriculture.

as to the residue, again I agree this does not deal with the issue.
