Interesting comments in the business section of yesterdays Courier Mail (Terry McCranns column).

He blatantly points out that our PM hasn't got a clue in regards to the intergenerational report. The conflict arises out of the fact that our population is going to grow from 22.2 million now to 25.7 million in 2020 and to 35.9 million by 2050. The issue is how to grow the economy in per capita terms which the government "assumes" we will get through productivity growth. According to McCrann, productivity growth is impossible in a world of the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS).
He states that energy is the building block of everything and that to triple the size of the economy by 2050 we have to almost as dramatically increase our production of energy.

The trouble lies in the fact that the Government has a mandate to 'destroy' carbon emissions, but at the same time needs to grow the economy. In real terms (according to McCrann) carbon emmissions need to be cut by a massive 35% in per capita terms in the next 10 years and grow the economy by a third in that time.
