Trump has had views on tariffs for many years citing the difficulty of selling anything to Japan and Kuwait's standard of living while they pay no tariffs to the USA on their profits selling oil here and how tariffs become useful for ensuring jobs stay here, self sufficiency is maintained and those not policing the drug trade can be given an incentive to do so via tariffs.
