G'day B2,
I'm sure you're right so far as America goes ... but as I see it the problem is that a devaluing US curency will be dropped/shed by the countries holding large amounts of it, accelerating the $'s fall immensely ... which in turn will cause a sudden and significant increase in US rates to slow the slide .... which in turn will have a disastrous effect upon the US economy ... which in turn will have an extremely significant effect upon the world's economy ..... which in turn will lead to significant depression in the price of nearly all things (certainly including commodities) ....
.......until a solid bottom (probably a rock one) is reached which will prove to be the base for the next proper rise in the economies of most - and I consider the beginning of that rise will be many, many years away.
But then again, I'm just an optimist I guess ('cause I haven't thrown in wars and shortages of real assets like food and water)
JMO of course
