Geopolitics and brinkmanship doesn't work that way.
The FSB will be heavily pushing and encouraging your sort of narrative because it supports elements of Putin's narrative.
You do not need to support Putin on much at all to none-the-less be considered an FSB "asset".
Putin repeatedly says he will get away with what he can. The so called "West" has 2 options on the table only. One is to give Putin what he wants. The other is to stand up to Putin. There is no middle space.
