It seems Cvn's oil discovery to be the best in the whole Canning.
Kar's Levitt is a dry well. All others are gas wells.
All I need is a commitment from Quadrant to develop and commercialise this oil well.
Is Quadrant too busy with other JVs.
Roebuck seismic planned
Tuesday, 11 August 2015

THE potential of the wider Roebuck Basin, offshore Western Australia, continues to inspire oilers following the Triassic Phoenix South-1 oil discovery, and Dolphin Geophysical is hoping to cast light on the area offshore of the Canning Basin with an extended seismic survey.
Dolphin proposes to acquire multi-client 2D and 3D seismic surveys to complete the second phase of the Greater Pina Colada data collection program.
Phase 2 was accepted by NOPSEMA in June and will cover 15,200sq.km of 3D seismic data and a single 150km 2D tie line across WA 435-P, WA 436-P, WA 437-P, WA 464-P, WA 479-P, WA-480-P, WA 482-P and WA 487-P, plus adjacent open acreage and release area W15-05
Final approvals have now been obtained.
The permits are owned by a mix of companies including Pathfinder Energy, Quadrant Energy, Finder Exploration, Carnarvon Petroleum, Woodside Petroleum, Repsol and Karoon Gas Australia, primarily in the Roebuck Basin, which is also known as the Offshore Canning Basin.
The Roebuck Basin is one of the least explored regions of the North West Shelf with just nine well penetrations in the Bedout and Rowley sub-basins.
The survey area included the currently drilling Levitt-1 well and Pathfinder’s large Pina Colada prospect, which sits underneath the East Mermaid-1 well, the only well ever drilled in the Rowley sub-basin, back in 1973, that it is now recognised did not penetrate its target.
The survey will take place within 10km of the Mermaid Reef Commonwealth Marine Reserve, Mermaid Reef and Rowley Shoals Marine Park, however the acquisition activities are not affected to impact on the shoals.
Dolphin hopes to complete surveys before the end of 2016 with the Sanco Swift expected to start survey once it finishes Monuments MC3D.
Pathfinder was awarded WA-479-P in 2012 and neighbouring permit WA-487-P in May 2013.
Its primary term commitment is for 530sq.km of 3D seismic, which will be covered by the Dolphin program. It expects to shoot 850sq.km.
The Pina Colada prospect has potential for 264MMbbl or 1.8Tcf of gas (P50) in the North Rankin Formation or Upper Keraudren Formation, and a further 75MMbbl in the Lower Keraudren Cossigny Formation.
Woodside has committed to shoot 11,500sq.km and eight wells, several of which have been drilled to date with disappointing results, however Woodside plotted its first wells prior to the Phoenix South-1 discovery and was looking primarily for gas.
