It would be nice if the Position Statement kept track of the purchase price for you, but there is probably a host of exceptions that prevent them doing so, such as shares transferred from other brokers, new share issues that you take part in, share splits and consolidations etc. However, when you buy or sell through Commsec I can't see why they can't assume that your current purchase price is correct and adjust it automatically.
