I see the occassional complaints against E-trade but I have found them to be Ok. Rates are good. Tried a few others but the big difference to me is Etrade Pro. I can have a ticker going across the top of the page, have as many market depth screens up as I want where i want on the screen, and I find the pink for down) and green (for up) fading squares for transactions on stocks in your watchlist far better than watching a blank screen with numbers all day. Platforms attached to webiress (such as power etrade) dont have this fading facilty and boxes can be locked to certain positions on the screen. I believe etrade pro is java. Sure you may have some trouble getting access when the big falls are on.
