btw. I did actually read Russian language versions of history many years ago. That includes the literature of Soviet literary heros and those they rejected. The former tended to be turgid prose - somewhat in the style of their awful statues glorifying Russia.


At least the authors that predated the revolution wrote some extraordinary literature
