Further to yesterday’s report, the Huinga 1B well is in the process of cleaning out obstructions in the hole, prior to logging the Kapuni Group section. After logging down to near the base of the overlying Murihiku metasediments, significant amounts of crude were observed at the surface, confirming influx of oil into the wellbore. Oil shows and elevated gas readings were observed over the interval 4263 – 4500 metres, which includes the base of the Murihiku and the Kapuni section, during drilling, however it is not yet clear as to what level the oil is coming from.
